Introducing JBL 3 Series MKIII Studio Monitors

JBL 3 Series MkIII is a major overhaul of the 3 Series platform, built for the way music, video and content are produced today. The family includes three powered studio monitors — 305P MkIII, 306P MkIII and 308P MkIII — plus the 310S MkIII subwoofer.  Creators have configuration flexibility ranging from a compact stereo setup to 2.1, surround and immersive monitoring.

The redesign starts with the acoustic system. The redesigned high-frequency driver and improved JBL Image Control Waveguide deliver a wide, consistent listening area with exceptional stereo imaging.  A new low-frequency driver uses stiffer cone materials, an upgraded magnet assembly and an aluminum shorting ring to improve power handling and reduce distortion.  The front-firing JBL Slipstream port helps bass response stay more predictable on desks, near walls and in compact rooms.

MkIII also improves the signal path by leveraging a new Class D amplifier, which provides higher output, more headroom, and lower noise.  Balanced Neutrik combo inputs and selectable +4 dBu / -10 dBV sensitivity make setup straightforward with common studio devices and playback systems.

Because project studios and home studios can take many forms, every full-range model includes four one-touch controls for corrective EQ adjustments. This provides 81 corrective EQ combinations for placement, wall distance and high- or low-frequency adjustments.  No dip switches, measurement rigs or calibration software is required.

The system is designed to expand for any speaker configuration. Every monitor includes eight M4 mounting points for elevated, inverted or side-firing placement.  The 310S MkIII adds low-frequency extension and bass management for 2.1, surround and immersive workflows.

The result is a more capable 3 Series: accurate, adaptable and ready for any project in any room.

MKIII Feature Highlights

A Full Platform Overhaul

The MkIII range updates the driver platform, waveguide, low-frequency system, port design, amplification, room controls and mounting system in addition to cosmetic changes. Every part has been reworked rather than refreshed, and the same engineering runs through all four models — so the smallest pair and the largest share one voicing, mixes translate as a studio scales up, and a room can mix sizes without a tonal mismatch.

Bass that behaves in real rooms

Front-firing Slipstream ports help compensate for acoustics when monitors sit close to walls, on stands, or on crowded desks. Behind them sit redesigned woofers with stiffer cone materials, a 20 oz magnet assembly and an aluminium shorting ring that keep distortion down as levels climb. Extension reaches 45 Hz on the 305P, 43 Hz on the 306P and 41 Hz on the 308P.

Cleaner Electronics

New Class D amplification delivers higher output, more headroom and lower system noise - 86 watts bi-amplified and 109dB peak SPL on the 305P, 110 watts on the 306P and 308P for 112dB and 113dB respectively. A 192kHz ADC and a balanced Neutrik combo input with selectable +4dBu / -10dBV sensitivity make matching existing gear straightforward.

Accuracy beyond one seat

The JBL Image Control Waveguide helps sound stay consistent across a wider working area, supporting stronger stereo imaging and a more stable phantom centre. Working with a new 25 mm high-frequency driver, it holds a consistent 120 x 90 degree coverage pattern, so the image stays put when you lean back, turn to a second screen, or share the desk with a client.

81 ways to tune the room

The one-touch EQ system gives practical correction for common placement and room problems without complex menus or software. Four controls combine into 81 corrective settings covering desk or stand placement, wall and boundary distance, and high and low-frequency balance, set by hand in seconds, with no dip switches, no measurement rig and no app to install.

Ready for larger systems

Mounting points on every monitor make it easier to expand from the first pair to more advanced monitoring layouts and configurations. Eight M4 points in a 75 x 75 mm pattern support desktop, elevated, inverted and immersive positions. Add the 310S MkIII for extension to 26Hz, selectable 80, 100 and 120Hz crossovers, or external bypass when a surround or immersive processor handles bass management.

JBL Professional Introduces 3 Series MkIII Powered Studio Monitors and Subwoofer

Most extensive 3 Series redesign to date brings re-engineered acoustics, new Class D amplification, simplified room optimisation and integrated mounting for music, video and content creators

NORTHRIDGE, CALIFORNIA — HARMAN Professional Solutions, the global leader in audio, video, control and lighting systems, today announced the JBL Professional 3 Series MkIII powered studio monitor family. Representing the most extensive redesign of the 3 Series platform to date, the new lineup includes the JBL 305P MkIII, 306P MkIII and 308P MkIII powered studio monitors, along with the JBL 310S MkIII powered subwoofer.

Building on the legacy of the JBL Professional 3 Series, the MkIII family introduces redesigned acoustic systems, new Class D amplification, simplified room optimisation and integrated mounting options to support workflows ranging from compact stereo production setups to 2.1, surround and immersive monitoring.

The redesigned high-frequency driver works with an updated JBL Image Control Waveguide to provide a wider, more consistent listening area and stable stereo imaging across the workspace. New low-frequency drivers feature stiffer cone materials, upgraded magnet assemblies and aluminum shorting rings to improve power handling while reducing distortion. A front-firing JBL Slipstream™ port design helps deliver more predictable bass performance when monitors are placed on desks, near walls or in other space-constrained environments.

The MkIII family also introduces new Class D amplification, providing increased output, greater headroom and lower system noise. Balanced Neutrik® combo inputs and selectable +4 dBu/-10 dBV input sensitivity simplify integration with common studio interfaces, mixers and playback systems.

To help users adapt monitors to different production environments, every full-range model includes four one-touch room controls that provide 81 corrective EQ combinations for speaker placement, wall distance and high- and low-frequency adjustment. The system requires no calibration software or complex setup procedures.

Integrated mounting points on every full-range monitor make it easy to expand beyond a traditional stereo configuration. Whether mounted on walls, ceilings or monitor arms, the family supports stereo, 2.1, surround and immersive monitoring systems. The new JBL 310S MkIII powered subwoofer extends low-frequency response to 26 Hz and includes selectable crossover settings and external bass-management bypass for flexible system integration.
